a collection inspired by traditional japanese raku pottery. this method highlights the interplay of fire, air, and natural materials, creating pieces with distinctive charm and character. each item showcases unique patterns and textures from the kiln’s removal and exposure to smoke.
obvara
a form of raku that uses a fermented yeast solution. the pieces are removed from the active kiln and dipped into the obvara, then water, to rapidly cool and seal the design within the clay.
